Our story, our mission, our craft

"They say that a craftsman’s hands are never truly still. By day, I build the homes of California—working with wood, wire, and steel to create shelter for others. But as the sun sets over the Pacific, I return to a different kind of forge. I started Ubuntu Studios because I realized that while I was building houses, the world was neglecting the architecture of our children’s imaginations. I looked at the screens of today and saw a void where our heritage should be shining. I wanted to create a world where a child—whether in Luanda, Lisbon, or Los Angeles—could look at a hero like Mona and see a reflection of their own untapped power. My journey began in the spirit of Ubuntu: 'I am because we are.' I am an artist in exile, a father, and a builder. I created Heirs of the Sun to prove that even when we are far from home, our culture is a light that never goes out. I want to forge a legacy where every child knows they are a sun waiting to rise."

When a family enters the world of Ubuntu Studios, my hope is that they feel a profound sense of reconnection.

For the children: I hope they feel 'Capacitated'. Our animations are designed to empower, to ignite curiosity, and to show every child their own inherent strength and potential. We want them to see themselves as heroes, capable of great things.
